Some Bookygirl & Mikitta47 Thoughts

Further to yesterday’s bit about faith and all that in Sims 3, Bookygirl offered her own take on proceedings.

Like Bookygirl said, making some form of optional extra would keep everyone happy – apart from those screaming Communist or religious fundamentalist nations that ban Sims 3 from being sold there anyway, but then they’re never happy to begin with.

Elsewhere, the discussion on the EA forum reconvened, with Mikitta47 giving a very long post outlining her ideas how this and a number of other nails could all be hit at the same time.

First of all, there is required five items:

Every single one of those items is already available, either from EA or from custom content creators (there’s umpteen podiums and lecterns available at the likes of Around The Sims, Mod The Sims, The Sims Resource, etc), existing animations with the Sims 3 game would work fine, all that would be required is the mod(s) – so now’s a good time for everyone to start doing Bambi eyes at Twallan!

From that, she elaborated on some interactions that could be introduced with the new items, as well as a few based on existing parts to the game.

Total agreement over revamping the political side, as one of our pet peeves is that there’s no elections for Simmies to take part in and the politics of the Sims 3 is more akin to the old town and city corporations.

Love the idea of being able to pelt speakers with tomatos – rebellious Simmies could even do that in places of worship as well as soapbox speakers and cause all manner of mayhem!

Not too sure about the next part though:

Doesn’t the Charisma skill cover that anyway, as Simmies practice speeches in the mirror? Same goes for counselling (this could be linked positively also to the Nurturing trait)

Leaving aside the rest of her post which went into Wedding/Funeral Directors, wishes and social interactions resultant from the changes, the other part of interest was the idea of adding more social groupings into our Simmie societies.

Now this one is the real elephant in the room as far as Sims 3 is concerned – apart from the silly Good vs Evil system, there’s very little in the way of social groupings, cliques, call them what you will, which do have an effect on how people will interact with one another in real life.

Jarsie9 wasn’t so sure however with regard to the latter part.

Perhaps the problem here isn’t so much the concept as the terminology – ‘faction’ does sounds just a touch militant, too much ‘us and them’ in nature. It should be born in mind that Mikitta47 did take the phrase from the originator of the idea – Evil_One – who of course was a member of a certain little Sims world faction once upon a time, and her terminology should not reflect necessarily the overall objective of such social groupings being introduced within the Sims 3 gaming structure.

Still, everyone that had taken part in the previous discussion that decended into farce was in general agreement that Mikitta47 had come up with a winner.

Both the pro and the anti anything remotely smacking of religion, as well as those sitting on the head of a pin rather than the fence to stop the angels dancing on it.

Will EA or some talented modder take note? Time will tell.
