There are some things you are better off not knowing

Written 6th September 2009.

Luckynicole659 asked in the EA forum as to whether people were curious as to what others may have done with Sims they created and downloaded.

“Oh, and if you want to post pictures, that’s cool with me.”

Be careful what you wish for

Be careful what you wish for

In general, fair enough – everyone loves a good nosey! But if it is a Simself (ie. one made to represent you) or that of someone you know, you don’t want to know!

You may think you do, but you don’t.

Here’s why.

Say someone is making your Simself do something that in real life they would never do – for example have a relationship with someone of the same gender/opposite gender? Or had them having a relationship using the Simself of someone on the forum you hate?

(Let’s not even get into the subject of those modification sites that change the game to allow your Sims commit actions that in real life would get them a jail term and a life place on the Sex Offenders Register).

Don’t be so sure you won’t feel a bit creeped out about it. The greatest lie most people tell themselves is how ‘broadminded’ they are.

More to the point, your friendly feelings towards a fellow Simmer – who told you in all good faith – might be irrepairably damaged for good. And once they’re said, it’s too late.

The Sims world is a fantasy world. And there are some fantasies that are better left unsaid out loud to others.

Unless the other is Nancy Friday 😀
