When A Mod Becomes A Sod

No, not back on that topic, it’s the other kind of mod this time!

There’s nothing like the inexperienced dictating to the experience for a good laugh.

Stringing yourself up from the rafters more like it.

Evergreen226 explained that the devil is in the detail.

But some people can’t be told.

Have you even tried any of the alternatives that come without any catches?

Exactly.

Simlicious2015 (another of the newbies who appears to be appearing just about everywhere in the Simmers world these days!) and Whales_Rock provided a useful Q&A for the benefit of the uninitiated as to what Core mods are.

Phantomflex summed up why people ceased using Awesomemod:

Whilst Whales_Rock delivered the coup de grace: finding your game at the mercy of Pescado getting his finger out to update it.

If you get a new Expansion pack, you can always remove the Twallan and other non-core mods and game on without them whilst awaiting the update. Try doing that to Pescado’s effort, and that’s your Sims 3 installation f**ked.

‘Primitive’  – couldn’t have put it better ourselves!

‘Fraid so, Darkslayer!

Ladynaava and StrawberryBasket also raise another valid point about Awesomemod, the fact it appears geared to computer nerds that have to have the biggest and best rig available on the market and are more interested in playing the Sims 3 as a ‘woohoo’ aid (for want of a polite term!)

Dannikins, in his attempt to defend Awesomemod, ironically damned probably one of the major failing points of it.

You can get help and friendly patient advice from Twallan and most other non-core modders worth their salt, but if Awesomemod’s giving you trouble, you’re going to encounter customer service even worse than anything EA will vomit up!

Preach it, sister!

Muleskinner also pointed out a rather interesting correlation.

Earthmama also found it to be more trouble than it was worth.

As did Pr0x1ma:

Any mod that renders your game useless without it and at the mercy of the arbeitrary updating and basic civility of those involved is more trouble than its worth.

Would you buy a game from the shop under such terms? So why on earth would you accept a mod into your game and then have to waste several hours reinstalling the entire game and all the SPs/EPs again.

Life and especially your fun time are too short for that.

P.S. Pescado groupies may also wish to take a read at the following!
