Okay, just when you thought EA in the promotion of the Glitterturd could not sink any lower, they come up with this …
Just look at this complete arseturnip. It’s like an over the top version of Lady Gaga (an achievement in itself).
For those not in the know, this thing is one Brian Michael Firkus, whom having failed as a singer, songwriter, comedian and just about everything else on account of being, erm, forgettable, started wearing a dress and giant false tits with 1950s wigs and half a tonne of Dulux in order to look like Cindy Wilson or Kate Pearson in their early B-52s days, and because the media is so whacked out even by American standards, Trixie Mattel (oh Mattel as in the makers of Barbie Dolls, we get the jist of where you’re at …) became rich and famous – or so we’re told.
This is what happens when the LGBTQ, etc, etc (we’d add on more letters, but as the definition appears to get longer with each passing day, we’ll stick with those) has so run out of ideas, it starts to co-opt anyone who constitutes a ‘weirdo’ as an ‘ally’, no matter how beige at best, insulting at worst they may be.
Let’s be clear about this, by the very standards today’s social justice warriors chose to morally club the world from dawn till dusk but appear wilfully blind to anything if it has a ‘LGBTQ’ tag on it, drag queens are a bloody big problem. And if you don’t get why, perhaps you ought to ask why Paul O’Grady retired Lily Savage at the turn of the millenia for much the same reason Warren Mitchell retired Alf Garnett – before the joke turned sour.
Drag queens like Trixie Mattel are part and parcel of one bloody big problem the gay community has got and had better face up to pretty bloody fast. Flappy hands hyper-female stereotypes polluting the zeitgeist, largely at the hands of the same lazy legacy media corporations they’ll crybaby are being ‘prejudiced’ to them ten seconds after their latest ten show contract.
At best, they’re the 21st century equivalent of clowns – an overtired trope from a patriarchal society, a Christmas time pantomime stock in trade long worn out. At worst, they’re ten times more offensive than the blackface, yellowface, etc, etc. the ‘woke’ get ‘triggered’ about espying at every turn, since they’re reducing over half of the entire population of the planet to a beyond redundant Donna Reed Show cardboard cutout obsessed with bitchery, trivia and screaming at spiders or mice; mincing pathetic specimens whom for all their ‘sass’ and punching the world with their mouths at every opportunity are still only good for only cooking, cleaning, f**king and nothing else without a man around. Drag is the ‘acceptable face’ of neanderthal misogyny writ large.
Give people like the late Divine and Lily Savage their due: they took the concept and lampooned the living daylights out of it so mercilessly that by the time they were through with it (a very public ‘up yours’ to wankers like Danny LaRue and Larry Grayson) it was redundant (and Divine’s tongue right through his cheek gravel voiced version of ‘Walk Like A Man’ remains the best version of the usually high falsetto song ever done – the video where he does the famous chorus whilst punching and bottling a bar room of cowboy is still hilarious viewing …)
But then two decades later, and suddenly what was rightly regarded as belonging in the dustbin of entertainment history with Black and White Minstrals (who also just happened to have been so utterly crap in the first place, it beggered belief they stayed on for as long as they did …) ‘drag queen’ rose from their graves to pollute the zeitgeist once more, suddenly regarded as not merely ‘acceptable’, but ‘icons’ of ‘gay culture’. Even by the standards of a gay culture so moronic it co-opted one of the fatuous Teletubbies (the only kids show that made ‘Seseme Street’ look as educational as it claimed…), this was barrel scraping to the dirt beneath the wood.
And it doesn’t take too much to realise to whom they are icons – that toxic part of male homosexuality which has long had a huge problem with women and prefer them replaced by men pretending to be what they regard what a woman ‘should’ be like. Or is it just coincidence that shows like RuPaul’s Whatever Shit I’m Overpaid To Do This Week appear on the box at the expense of female output? More to the point, more and more the only times you are seeing women on TV today it’s on some soap or drama where their principle job is to be beaten, murdered, robbed or raped.
Call it for what it is – drag queens, especially in the current form which seem to be ninety nine percent ‘cruelty masquerading as humour’ (as Mike Scott once said about today’s troll culture) are a misogynist part of the zeitgeist long overdue exorcism. It should come as no surprise that EA should chose to get one of them to help promote the Glitterturd – an equally tired concept recycled to beyond tedium by the terminally talentless with nothing original or worthwhile to add.
